This is a reprint of a book from 1902 written by the head of the British embassy in Damascus. He begins with a sufficient, though definitely dry, analysis of the grammar of the language, followed by several pages of verb conjugations, and then a lengthy English to Arabic glossary. Note that this glossary is only one way. He concludes with a section of what he calls dialogues, though it reads more like a phrasebook to a modern reader.
Using this book, carefully putting the pieces together myself, I have been able to impress my Arabic-speaking friends.
$1.60...
