Nur al-Idah: The Light of Clarification ReviewFirst, I should note that my three star-rating is due to the translation. The work itself, Nur al Idah, is amazing in its original Arabic. It covers all the 'ibadat, or acts of worship, according to the Hanafi school. In the traditional Alim course, it is usually covered in the second or third years.
The work is a translation of Nur al Idah and its commentary by the same author, Maraqi Al Falah. The translation is nowhere near the quality that other translation have. The organization of the work is bad as well. There is no comprehensive index that would allow a student to use the work as a quick reference. References themselves are poor: either there are no references, or the work referenced is a modern work that is not accepted or known. The one redeeming quality is that there are hundreds of questions at the end for the student to answer.Nur al-Idah: The Light of Clarification Overview
