This Heavenly Wine: Poetry from the Divan-E Jami ReviewFor people who appreciate Persian culture and poetry this book is an absolute gem and a treasure. Lovers of Rumi and Hafez, for example, will feel right at home here, and as if they have made a new and quite wonderful friend. Sometimes poetry will point you beyond the words that are printed on the page to something sublime. That is true here. Sometimes when reading poems you will not feel that the poet lived centuries ago and is now gone, but rather that he is somehow quite alive and present in your heart. That is true here. I give this book my highest recommendation. The only thing I might wish for is that the orignal Farsi the author translated from be made available in the book, perhaps on facing pages. As a student of Farsi, it would have helped me tremendously to have the poems in their original language also available.
