Vocabulearn Arabic Level 1 (Arabic Edition) ReviewThe very first thing you'll notice about these cds is that it's very hard to even hear the Arabic vocabulary words due to the music playing in the background most of the time. It's hard enough to tell a siin from a Sod in a classroom setting without the musical distraction - and they claim it will help you learn. That meant that I was following along with the included lists and not so much paying attention to what was being said on the cd.
These cds would probably be more helpful as review for someone who already knows the words than to learn them in the first place. There are so many words going by so fast, it's hard to pick up on any of them.
The vocab list doesn't have any voweling and perhaps in an attempt to not confuse people, some short vowels are omitted from the spoken Arabic also. For example, 'you' is always read as 'aant' and never as 'aanti' or 'aanta.' Maybe that's ok if you already know what it's supposed to be, but sends you down the wrong path if you're just trying to learn. Also, the whole cd of verbs uses the 3rd person singular past tense as the English translation, but then doesn't bother to pronounce the final short vowel.
So, as long as you are familiar with some Arabic and can pick up on these types of problems, this could be helpful.
