Arabic Language Through Dialogue 2 with MP 3 Files (Arabic Edition) ReviewI used this textbook for my intermediate Arabic class, my forth semester of learning the language. It was an interesting change, having used the more common Al-Kitaab previously.
There were several aspects of this book that I really liked. This text focuses not so much on grammar and structure, but on conversation and connection. This book and its exercises are good at evoking dialogue and they force students to apply what they have learned to speak with one another. In terms of learning the language, one learns more valuable lessons using this text than just things like grammar.
While I enjoyed this textbook, there are a few things I would recommend for future editions and warnings for potential buyers. While the text comes with a great DVD with each chapter's dialogue on it, it would be nice to have more audio samples (like the individual vocabulary to listen to). It should also be known that this is not a textbook for someone wanting to learn a high amount of vocabulary. While there is vocab with every chapter, it is not a necessarily wordy book and is without a dictionary. This text works best by using already learned words in new contexts.
In summary, this is a textbook for non-beginner Arabic students who are hoping to improve their conversational skills.
