Arabic (Egy) Phase 1, Unit 01-05: Learn to Speak and Understand Egyptian Arabic with Pimsleur Language Programs ReviewI have only done the first unit. This course is designed purely to be heard and spoken. It actively discourages looking up how words are phonetically represented (the introduction gives the methods used by all Pimsleur courses). However, I had doubts in the first lesson because of the differences from Modern Standard Arabic. So, I looked up Misri (Egyptian Arabic) verbs and found that what I was hearing and saying in the course was correct.
So, despite doubting my own ears and mouth, it was correct.
And I remember all that I learned so far.
This seems to be an effective way to learn how to speak a language and I will probably continue to get more units with my Audible subscription.
