I knew nothing of Islam and thought I would learn about it by learning about what is in the Qur'an. I bought this book and it changed my life forever.Like all translations, there are parts where the English can get a little choppy where you need to dig deeper to find the real meaning. It is good to check other translations that are freely available online if you encounter sections like that. Many times the point will be obvious when doing this.
Another excellent translation is the one by Sahih International. I don't know why so many people want to have footnotes and commentary. If God's book needed this to understand it, it would have been in the original.
