This handy dictionary is in 90 pages. In such a compact pocket edition one cannot expect to include both traditions, viz., spoken and classical Arabic.
The strength of this book, then is, there are few words that are included from both these traditions to satisfy many, if not everyone. In addition it has an Arabic-English and English-Arabic approach.
The weakness is that it is short of words, and falls short even in conveying the meaning, and / or usage. For instance, Monday (transliterated and in Arabic script) = al-ithnayn. Whereas, Monday literally, and most appropriately, should be translated as yaum al-ithnayn. Yaum refers to a day, and Monday in the calendar is the second day of the week. Strange enough, a user who looks for the meaning of al-ithnayn, will not find this word.
A discripency in this dictionary is obovius. For instance,
Neat, orderly is translated as qadiim;
whereas, tidy is translated as, murattab.
Murattab lit. is tidy, (also) orderly (synonymous word: systematic). However, systematic is missing in the dictionary.
Nevertheless, it has many words useful in everyday life for the business and educational purposes.
